Correct Posture Guide

Poor Ergonomics can cause:
  • Pain in the Fingers, wrists or other parts of the body from a dull ache to a sharp stab.
  • Tingling or numbness in the hands or fingers.
  • Swelling or stiffness in joints.
  • Muscle weakness of loss of function.
  • Discomfort in shoulders, neck, lower back or upper back.
  • Feeling unusually cold as circulation is affected by posture.
  • Cramping or tightness in muscles.
  • Clumsiness/loss of coordination
Things to consider when selecting the right chair.
Which type of action is suitable for your user?
Be sure to consider the level of back support the user will require. The benefit of having an adjustable back height or inflatable lumbar could be the key to the comfort of the user. Options such as arm type, seat movement and usage are all key to finding the right support.
  •  A comfortable padded seat - with so much time sitting on your office chair you don't want a flimsy hard base that will give you a numb bottom after an 8hr day! Also consider a breathable fabric.
    • Inflatable Seat Pad An adjustable 2-chamber air-cushion integrated in the seat pad. Promotes free regular - movement and sitting posture.
  • Arm rests - these can give your arms a healthy resting place when they are not in use. Having shoulders relaxed and elbows at the correct angle. You can get different types of arms to suit such as height adjustable, foldaway, 3D (multifunctional) arms and even 4D arms.
    • Folding arms down and out of the way. Easier movement and access.
    • Adjustable seat height - everyone is different. Nearly all operator seating is height adjustable but sometime we need something with a bit of extra height or smaller. The aim is to sit with your thighs parallel to the floor and your feet flat. Your arms should sit at the same height as your desk.
    • Adjustable back rest - an adjustable back rest is a must!
      • Ratchet Back - the seat back moves up or down to adjusting to suit the height of the user.
      • Lumbar support - We always recommend Lumbars with our own custom made seating. this is the lower back support  and can often be adjusted to fit the curve of your back supporting the natural "S" shape of the spine. These normally come as a Pump up/down or mechanism in the backrest to fit the lumbar (small of the back)
    • Seat Slide - The seat can be moved forward adjusting the depth to accommodate different sized users.
    • Seat Tilt - This opens up the pelvic angle which will improve the "S" shape of your spine when sitting, reducing the load on your spine and improving blood flow.
    • Independent Seat Tilt & Slide - The seat can be moved forward adjusting the depth to accommodate different sized users and moves independently from the seat tilt giving a greater personalisation to individual users..
    • Synchro Mechanism & Ratchet Back - The seat and back are linked and tilt simultaneously as you lean back, this can be left to ‘free-float’ or locked at a specific angle.
    • User Weight - Metal bases are recommended for users over 115kg (18 Stone)
    • Duration of Use - 24 Hour seating.
